The Living Museum: Traditional Turkish Architecture

Traditional Turkish architecture encompasses a rich variety of styles and elements, reflecting the country’s diverse history and cultural influences. The project adapts these features to suit in a larger scale while retaining their traditional benefits such as central communal spaces for interaction, flexible room usage, courtyards and verandas for semi-public areas. It reimages the community within the suburban landscape, acknowledging the evolving nature of social interactions and spatial dynamics. It promotes collective spaces that foster shared experiences and solidarity among both locals and visitors.

Providence Boathouse: Study of Waves

The boatbay utilizes a dynamic building skin which translates the time-lapse motion of the waves of the river into an architectural form, providing visual interest by occurring in the building in different scales. The dynamic of the influenced movement alters the shape of the building and its relation to the surrounding landscape. The boathouse is dually oriented toward the river which follows the curving spine of the river connecting the users to the river. The building plan is heavily influenced by the flowing movement of the grid, resulting in a radially organized structural grid.
The boathouse is oriented toward south, and overgoes on the water, it receives light that reflects from the water surface and gets into the boatbay from the openings below the wall structure. It also introduces daylight and natural ventilation for the boat storage. This condition happens in different parts of the building in different scales acting as a skylight, stair opening; not just the atmosphere of the boatbay but the atmosphere of all the rooms transform with the sun's movement.
Walls of he boathouse changes not just in plan but also in width inspired from waves getting bunched up they form higher amplitudes. The change in the width of the walls shapes the roof structure which follows the same dynamic.

Tchotchke Plate Factory:Exploration of Double Void Space

The core intent of the Tchotchke Plate Factory is to act as a vessel which creates a connection between the voids interacting with other programs and the tertiary spaces formed as an outcome of this. It is designed for manufacturing tchotchkes plates, a limited collection every month with prints on top designed by renowned artists. The factory invites people to engage with the screen printing process of the manufacturing plates while providing a vast outdoor terrace and courtyard that introduce a welcoming sense of space and light that can flow through the factory. In the structural concept, the voids blur the boundary of interior-exterior spaces, enabling the creation of a field of vision in the whole form. While these courtyards also configure the factory's workflow, they serve different purposes. The grand production happens on the first floor, while other floors serve for more social interaction with its screen printing workshop and gallery space which also serves as a storage.
